Berry van Wijk is een expert op het gebied van financieel toezicht en staat aan het hoofd van Houthoffs Financial Regulatory Team.  Het team geeft advies aan de financiële sector over alle mogelijke toezichtsvraagstukken terwijl Berry zelf zich in het bijzonder richt op de verzekeringssector en financiële dienstverleners.

Zij adviseert haar cliënten bij hun contacten met de Nederlandse toezichthouders, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) en de Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM), en bij de implementatie van wettelijke toezichtsregelgeving en de ontwikkeling van nieuwe producten- en distributiekanalen. Daarnaast geeft Berry advies over de regelgevingscomponent van M&A-transacties in de financiële dienstverlenerssector.

Haar expertise bevindt zich voorts op het gebied van beleggingsverzekeringen; zij vertegenwoordigt momenteel Nationale Nederlanden in een collectieve actie.

Zij is een ‘trusted adviser’ voor bestuurders en bedrijfsjuristen van diverse verzekeringsmaatschappijen. Berry is lid van het dagelijks bestuur van de Vereniging voor Verzekeringswetenschap en voorzitter van de Adviescommissie verzekeringsrecht van de Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten. Daarnaast is zij lid van de Raad van Toezicht van het Albert Schweitzer Ziekenhuis. Berry is lid van Houthoffs Raad van Commissarissen.

Berry geeft colleges voor verschillende postacademische opleidingen, zoals de Leergang Verzekeringsrecht aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Zij is docent voor de Leergang Co-Assurantie en de masteropleiding in Verzekeringsrecht van Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Zij is redactielid van het online Tijdschrift Verzekeringsrecht, Aansprakelijkheid, Schade en Toezicht (VAST), voorheen bekend als het Tijdschrift Aansprakelijkheids- en Verzekeringsrecht in de Praktijk (TAV).

    Houthoff assisted IK Investment Partners in the acquisition of a majority stake in You Sure Investments B.V.

    Advised ASR Nederland N.V. (a.s.r.) on the acquisition of a 50% interest from Brand New Day in Brand New Day Premiepensioeninstelling N.V. (BND PPI) and the sale of a.s.r.'s 10% interest in Brand New Day Houdstermaatschappij N.V. for a total amount of EUR 51 million.

    Houthoff advised a.s.r., a large Dutch insurance company, on the acquisition of VvAA Levensverzekeringen, the life insurance business of VvAA Groep. The life insurance portfolio comprises approximately 18,000 policies. The annual premium income is EUR 28m, and the technical provisions amount to EUR 430m. In addition to a multi-year life insurance partnership, VvAA and a.s.r. also intend to further expand the services to VvAA members.

    Houthoff represented Nationale Nederlanden (NN) in proceedings that were brought by the foundation Vereniging Woekerpolis.nl in relation to investment-linked insurance offered by NN. The court ruled that generally speaking NN had provided sufficient information on costs and premiums.
