Houthoff advised Kroonenberg Groep B.V., jointly with Lexence, on the acquisition of a shopping centre in Almere valued at EUR 82 million. The property comprises 65 shops and office spaces near the railway station. Our lawyers focused on the legal due diligence, negations on the SPA and the transfer of the portfolio.

Houthoff assisted Heimstaden AB with the indirect acquisition and financing of 9,544 residential units in the Netherlands at a purchase price of EUR 1.4 billion. Through this acquisition, Heimstaden has become the third largest private residential property owner in the Netherlands. This is the largest real estate transaction ever in the Netherlands in terms of the number of housing units.

Together with the VMRG, the branch organization for facades, Houthoff has developed the very first lease-based agreement whereby the facade of a building remains the property of the facade builders after delivery by way of a right of ground lease. A right of ground lease has not been used in such a way before. This means a breakthrough in the circular facade economy.

Houthoff advised Hannover Leasing on the acquisition of the property 'The Cloud' in Amsterdam by means of a share deal. The building was redeveloped recently and is leased to Uber, Amazon, Spaces and @Leisure.

Houthoff recently advised on the acquisition of the shares in the IEF portfolio by a consortium led by CBRE Global Investors (three institutional investors from the Netherlands, plus CBRE Dutch Retail Fund). IEF is a joint venture formed by Bouwfonds Investment Management and IEF Capital. The portfolio consists of 31 Dutch retail properties (mostly flagship stores), including the well-known Dutch retail chains HEMA and de Bijenkorf.

CBRE Global Investors (Dutch Office Fund) has started building the new World Trade Center in Utrecht (WTC Utrecht), adjacent to Utrecht train station (Jaarbeursplein). A team from Houthoff advised CBRE Global Investors (Dutch Office Fund) on the land transaction with the municipality of Utrecht.
