Jurre has been working as a lawyer since 2012. He specialises in data protection and e-commerce matters (internet services and platforms). His practice covers litigation/dispute resolution as well as consultancy. Jurre handles data protection cases before courts in the Netherlands (regarding data subjects' rights, regulatory enforcement, requests for information and damages), regulators such as the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) and Authority for Consumers and Markets (Autoriteit Consument & Markt), as well as various alternative dispute resolution bodies.

Jurre regularly publishes on data protection and e-commerce law in authoritative legal journals in the Netherlands, such as the Dutch Journal for European Law (
NtEr) and Intellectual Property & Advertising Law (IER). He is a regular contributor to legal journal JBP, which publishes and comments on topical data protection and privacy case law. Jurre has particular experience with data protection and consumer law in the automotive and mobility sectors.

Jurre was also winner of the Academy for Legislation’s Thesis Prize in 2012, received a special commendation in the 2012 Molengraaff Thesis Prize, and was winner of the Dutch group of the AIPPI’s VIE Prize in 2013. Jurre is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the Dutch Privacy Law Association (VPR) (including the subdivision for attorneys-at-law VPR-A), the Dutch Copyright Law Association (VvA) and the Dutch Media and Communication Law Association (VMC).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • LL.M. Private Law (Utrecht University)
  • WIPO Intellectual Property Summer School in Geneva (WIPO / University of Geneva)
  • Specialisation course Privacy and data protection law (Leiden University PAO)
  • Represented Ola Cabs in data access request proceedings before the Amsterdam District Court. This was the first judgment by an EU court on data portability.
  • Represented RDW (Dutch Vehicle Licence Authority) before the Dutch DPA and administrative courts in defence of complaints raised by a group of data subjects.
  • Advised Marktplaats, a classified advertising site based in the Netherlands, on preliminary relief proceedings brought by a professional advertiser who was blocked from the platform.
