Karim Abass has a broad intellectual property law and privacy law practice. He regularly advises clients on all aspects of trademark enforcement, brand protection, GDPR compliance and consumer law. Karim also has extensive international experience in the provision of dispute resolution services, particularly concerning domain name disputes.
Prior to joining Houthoff in 2020, Karim worked as a lawyer for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Advised H2 Equity Partners on the sale of Brink Group. Brink has more than 100 years of expertise in the manufacturing industry. The company’s product portfolio includes fixed, detachable, retractable and next generation towbars.

Represented the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) in a dispute concerning the domain name rdwtellerrapport.nl. The disputed domain name led to a website offering alleged RDW odometer reports, falsely suggesting that the website was affiliated with RDW.

Advised Mzuri Holdings Ltd, owner of amongst others Decora Blind Systems, a European manufacturer and distributor of indoor window coverings on the acquisition of Coolblinds, an online retailer of made to measure blinds (better known as 123jaloezie.nl, plissegordijn.nl and rolgordijnland.nl).

Represented Brazilian multinational petroleum company Petrobras, as it sought the transfer of the domain name petrobrasbv.nl. The disputed domain name led to a fraudulent website mimicking Petrobras' official website.
