Bart staat aan het hoofd van Houthoffs cassatieteam. Als cassatiespecialist is hij bij talloze baanbrekende zaken op het gebied van arbitration, finance, insolventie, insurance, contracten, procesrecht en aansprakelijkheidsrecht betrokken geweest, waarbij hij optrad voor ondernemingen, investeerders en toonaangevende financiële instellingen zoals Achmea, Allianz en ING. Als procesadvocaat heeft hij opgetreden voor de boedels van KPNQwest en Lehman Brothers Treasury, en voor obligatiehouders bij de miljarden dollars kostende herstructurering van Oi in kwesties die essentieel zijn geweest voor de afwikkeling van deze insolventies.

Bart is in 2004 aan de Universiteit Leiden gepromoveerd en heeft een groot aantal publicaties op zijn naam staan. Hij is redacteur en co-auteur van een belangrijk studieboek over cassatie, en redactielid van het toonaangevende Tijdschrift voor Civiele Rechtspleging. Bart is een veelgevraagd spreker en docent, en is lid van de Adviescommissie voor burgerlijk procesrecht van het Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid.
