Hans is gespecialiseerd in beroeps en bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid en staat cliënten bij in kwesties op het gebied van compliance, fraude en regulatory enforcement. Hij is betrokken bij complexe, vaak internationale geschillen, waarbij regelmatig interne of onder leiding van de overheid uitgevoerde onderzoeken een rol spelen. Daarnaast is Hans is een toonaangevend expert in verzekerings- en herverzekeringskwesties, voornamelijk op het gebied van bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid, aansprakelijkheid van professionele en financiële instellingen, fraudeverzekeringen en internationale verzekeringsprogramma’s. Onder zijn cliënten bevinden zich nationale en internationale bedrijven en instellingen, bestuurders en commissarissen, advocatenkantoren en andere professionele dienstverleners en internationale verzekeraars en herverzekeraars.

In de voornaamste legal ranking gidsen, waaronder Chambers, Legal 500 en Who’s Who Legal, wordt Hans beschreven als leidend binnen zijn werkgebied. In de 2019 editie van Chambers Europe wordt Hans vermeld als "very knowledgeable with a great talent voor strategic thinking". Voor zijn werk op verzekeringsgebied wordt hij geprezen als "simply the best insurance expert in the Netherlands".
